What to eat in Bangsar is probably one of the first things you search for when the weekend is here. We're totally with you!
Every time we visit Bangsar, we end up discovering another cafe, bakery, or local favourite that makes us want to come back the following weekend.
Bangsar has long been known as one of the city's best food destinations. Walk along Jalan Telawi and the surrounding streets, and you'll find there are simply too many tempting places to stop.
You could start the morning with flaky French pastries, enjoy a comforting banana leaf lunch, sip on specialty coffee in the afternoon, and finish with handmade Italian pasta without ever travelling far.
Of course, that also makes choosing where to eat surprisingly difficult. There are so many great cafes and restaurants that narrowing them down to just nine on this list felt almost impossible. We left out plenty of favourites, but we wanted this list to focus on the places we genuinely look forward to visiting again and again.
Some are perfect for a slow weekend brunch with friends. Others are places we'll happily drive across the city for because one particular dish keeps calling us back. A few have become neighbourhood institutions that locals have loved for years, while others bring something fresh and exciting to Bangsar's ever-growing food scene.
If you're planning your next food adventure and wondering what to eat in Bangsar, these are our top 10 picks for 2026.
Pro tip: Bangsar parking fills up fast on weekends. Arrive by 10am to snag a spot, or better yet, rent a car with TREVO and let someone else do the driving while you cafe-hop.
1. Botanica + Co.

Botanica + Co. has been one of our favourite brunch spots for years, and it never disappoints. Tucked inside The Vertical in Bangsar South, the restaurant feels bright, spacious, and full of greenery. There are large windows that let in plenty of natural light, while the plants and warm wooden furniture give the whole place a calm, welcoming atmosphere that will set you up to enjoy the food.
The menu consists of both Asian and Western dishes. Our favorite is the signature laksa, and their salmon is always cooked to perfection. And we never fail to get the truffle fries for the table. And for dessert, don't forget to order churros!
Location: G3A/ G5, Verticals Podium, Bangsar South City, 8, Jalan Kerinchi, Bangsar South, Kuala Lumpur
2. Yeast
There's something special about walking into Yeast early in the morning. Before you've even looked at the menu, the smell of freshly baked bread fills the cafe, and it's usually enough to convince us we're ordering more pastries than we originally planned.
Yeast has become one of Bangsar's most popular brunch spots, and after several visits, it's easy to understand why. Inspired by traditional French bakeries, the cafe focuses on quality bread, buttery pastries, and comforting meals that are simple but incredibly satisfying.
The croissants deserve all the praise they receive. They're wonderfully flaky with delicate buttery layers that shatter ever so slightly when you take the first bite. If you prefer something sweeter, the tart au chocolat is a delight! For a heartier meal, we love ordering the escargot or the barramundi. The barramundi especially is just perfection.
Of course, you'll want coffee to go with all that food. Thankfully, Yeast serves consistently good coffee that pairs perfectly with their pastries. It's easy to spend an entire morning here chatting with friends over coffee while ordering "just one more pastry." That's probably why we find ourselves returning every few months.
If you're putting together a list of the best restaurants in Bangsar for breakfast or brunch, Yeast absolutely deserves a place on it.
Location: Jalan Telawi 2, Bangsar, Kuala Lumpur.
3. Chelo's Sweet Appam
Chelo Appam is one of those restaurants that proves you don't need fancy interiors to serve unforgettable food. During busy meal times, you'll often find people patiently waiting for a table. Because it's a small restaurant and everything is made from scratch, the wait times can become long. But for us, it's totally worth it!
The restaurant specialises in South Indian cuisine, with appam taking centre stage. Freshly made throughout the day, each appam has beautifully crispy edges while the middle is wonderfully soft and fluffy. Our favourite one has to be the brown sugar appam. Their curry puffs and thosai are irresistible too!
If you're searching for an Indian restaurant in Bangsar serving comfort food, Chelo Appam is one we'd recommend without hesitation. It's somewhere we always leave feeling happy.
Location: 6, Lorong Ara Kiri 3, Bangsar, Kuala Lumpur
Pro tip: Chelo's gets packed during lunch. Go before noon or after 2pm to avoid the longest queues.
4. Anuar's Fish Head Curry
Some restaurants become part of a neighbourhood's identity, and Anuar's Fish Head Curry is definitely one of them. Ask almost any local where to find a good fish head curry around Bangsar, and chances are this place will come up almost immediately.
The restaurant has been attracting loyal customers for years, and despite its popularity, it still feels wonderfully down-to-earth. You'll find families gathered around large tables, colleagues stopping by for lunch, and regulars who know exactly what they'll be ordering before they even sit down.
The signature fish head curry is, of course, the highlight. The curry arrives bubbling hot with a rich, spicy gravy that's packed with flavour. The fish remains wonderfully tender, while the veggies absorb all that delicious curry. Spoon it generously over steamed rice, and you'll understand why people keep returning.
The ayam goreng and squid are must-orders for us as well. This place honestly reminds us why Malaysian food is so comforting. Whenever someone asks us what to eat in Bangsar, especially for lunch, Anuar's Fish Head Curry is always high on our recommendation list.
Location: Lucky Garden, Bangsar, Kuala Lumpur.
5. Maya@Bangsar
Maya@Bangsar is another one on this list that is Bangsar's comfort food at its best. And every time we visit, the food and service have been consistently great! The restaurant has simple, modest interiors, but people are mainly here for the food.
Just get their banana leaf rice set. Everything from the veggies to the curries is wonderful. Our favourites are the crab curry and chicken varuval. For drinks, we always order coconut water or the teh tarik, extra strong.
Maya@Bangsar is one of those dependable restaurants that always delivers a satisfying meal, and that's exactly why we keep returning. If you're still deciding what to eat in Bangsar, it's well worth adding this spot to your itinerary.
Location: Jln Telawi, Bangsar, Kuala Lumpur.
6. Chara

If your stomach grumbles at the thought of smoky, grilled meat, Chara is well worth it. This restaurant has earned a reputation for its beautifully prepared wood-fire dishes, making it a popular choice for date nights, birthdays, and celebrations. The warm lighting, cosy dining room, and attentive service create an experience that feels polished without being overly formal.
The wood-fire grill is the star of the kitchen, adding a delicious smoky flavour that makes many of the dishes stand out. One of our favourites is the Wood BBQ Beef. It's wonderfully tender, juicy, and infused with a rich smoky aroma that keeps every bite interesting. The grilled chicken is equally impressive, with crisp, lightly charred skin and moist, flavourful meat that pairs perfectly with the accompanying sides.
If you're starting with an appetiser, the grilled prawn and pomelo salad is a great choice. The sweetness of the prawns pairs beautifully with the refreshing citrus notes of the pomelo, making it a light but flavour-packed dish before the mains. Every plate is thoughtfully presented, and it's easy to see the attention to detail that goes into the cooking. Whether we're celebrating a special occasion or simply treating ourselves to a great meal, Chara is always a restaurant we'd happily recommend when deciding what to eat in Bangsar.
Location: Jln Telawi, Bangsar, Kuala Lumpur.
7. Baba Low's
Whenever we're craving comforting Peranakan food, Baba Low's is usually the first place that comes to mind. It's one of those restaurants that has quietly built a loyal following over the years, largely because the food stays consistently delicious.
The signature laksa is a must-order. The rich broth is fragrant and creamy with a strong coconut flavor to keep every spoonful super comforting! The mee siam is also spicy and delicious. And we love the cendol because it's not super sweet. On a hot afternoon, it's exactly what you want after a hearty meal. For us, this is some of the best food in Bangsar when we're craving comforting Malaysian flavours that never go out of style.
Location: Jalan Abdullah, Bangsar, Kuala Lumpur.
8. Luca BSC
Luca at Bangsar Shopping Centre is one of those restaurants that's perfect when you're looking for a relaxed meal in a stylish setting. The dining room feels warm and welcoming, making it an easy choice for everything from casual lunches to dinner with family or friends. The friendly service also adds to the experience, making every visit feel comfortable from the moment you arrive.
One of the restaurant's biggest crowd favourites is the Signature Butter Chicken. The curry is rich, creamy, and packed with fragrant spices without being overly heavy. It's even better when paired with their garlic naan, which comes out warm, fluffy, and lightly crisp around the edges. It's the kind of combination you'll keep reaching for until the plate is empty.
Another dish worth ordering is the Black Ink Squid Spaghetti. The pasta is cooked perfectly al dente, while the squid is tender and full of flavour. If you're sharing a few plates, don't miss the Spinach Chaat. The crispy spinach is topped with cool yogurt and bright, tangy flavours that make it wonderfully refreshing. It provides a nice contrast to the richer mains and is a great way to start your meal.
With delicious food, welcoming service, and a cosy atmosphere, Luca is somewhere we always enjoy returning to. If you're still deciding what to eat in Bangsar, this is a restaurant that's well worth adding to your list.
Location: Jalan Maarof, Bangsar Shopping Centre, Kuala Lumpur.
9. The Ganga Cafe
If you're someone who believes a good lunch needs to come with meat, we challenge you to visit The Ganga Cafe. This place has been a favourite among vegetarian food lovers in Bangsar for years. It has a relaxed, homely atmosphere where the focus is simply on serving delicious Indian food made with care.
The first thing you'll want to order is the pani puri. It's easily one of the restaurant's biggest highlights. It's an explosion of flavours that's both light and incredibly addictive. It's the sort of appetiser we find ourselves craving long after we've left.
If you're visiting for lunch, the buffet is another excellent option. It offers a generous spread of vegetarian dishes, with freshly made chapati, puri, and paratha prepared throughout the service. It's a fantastic way to sample a little bit of everything, and you'll definitely leave feeling full.
For an a la carte meal, we recommend the aloo paratha served with mixed vegetable curry. The paratha is soft and flaky with a flavourful potato filling, while the mixed vegetables are cooked in a rich, aromatic curry that pairs perfectly with every bite. To round off your meal, order a cup of their masala tea. It's fragrant, comforting, and the perfect drink to enjoy after a satisfying lunch.
Generous portions, friendly service, and comforting vegetarian dishes keep us coming back to The Ganga Cafe. If you're looking for what to eat in Bangsar, this is one restaurant that deserves a spot on your itinerary, whether you're vegetarian or not.

Other times we're craving spicy fish head curry, comforting banana leaf rice, handmade pasta, or a hearty brunch that stretches well into the afternoon.
The neighbourhood has grown over the years, but it has managed to keep its unique charm. Long-standing local favourites continue to thrive alongside newer cafes and restaurants, giving us plenty of reasons to keep coming back.
